ADD generation
Hello world! SO many things to say..
I am working on a million projects at once as per usual. I’ve realized its impossible for me to have just one project on the go because I’m not always in the mood to work on it. The solution I’ve learned is to have a project for every mood(hence the chaos and disorganization) in other words…this is just how I roll!
-A children’s book with Kate Mosley-an awesome teacher lady I worked with this past year @ Kitshouse.
-A book sculpture about urban development & suburban sprawl based on my hometown-Hamilton Ontario.
-An experimental film(still) about Canadian Identity & finding a sense of place (these projects started as one then became separate entities)
I am considering entering the ATC Exhibition at the Richmond Art Gallery. AGH too many things!! I feel bored if my brain isn’t constantly on the verge of exploding or ‘consploding’ as Benny(the little boy I babysit) would say.
I will be heading back to Hamilton and Toronto for a month in the next couple of weeks to research these projects and see my family and fellow duspa-oians.I’m very excited.
On another note my lovely and talented friends in the Duspa collective recently held their second annual Light Up Our Alley Fest which was a success. Congrats!
ALSO Some friends of mine were involved in a renegade group of billboard activists(not saying exactly who) calling themselves TOSAT took over illegal billboards and replace the ads with art. The action took place in T.O and was were featured in many publications here are some photos and links:

Old Projects
I am in the process of uploading all the art I have collected over the years. Here’s a project I made as a demonstration for the kids when I taught zine making.

So I’ve taken this summer off to baby myself(my back) and work on some projects. One of the projects I’m working on is a pop up book sculpture which deals with memories, sense of place and urban development. It’s based on my experience growing up on the Hamilton Mountain which is now very different than I remember. I will be collecting stories and photos over the next little bit to attempt to map memories of my childhood. If you have any photos or or stories of change involving Gilkson Park and/or Hamilton from the late 80′s and early 90′s please send them over!

Sean draw kids sculpture
Here is a sketch by Sean Karemaker. It’s a sculpture one of the kids in my art course made that he loved so much he drew it from memory.
